The Royal Academy of Art accepted two of my paintings this year. One is from the chair series and the other is from my new style of acrylic ink collages. Today was Lacquer Day when the artists are invited to see the work hung in the galleries before the public is allowed over the next few days. Like last year, there was a steel drum band that lead the procession down Piccadilly and over to St James' Church for a service. Tracy Emin was seated in the front row along with Sir Nicholas Grimshaw who read some piece from Matthew. It is such a long service, lovely but endless, that I have forgotten some of the content.
Once again, I forgot to take photos of my paintings before they went. These in gallery photos do not do them justice and not to complain (but it is my blog) the placing of them will not show them at their best.
This second one is so high up it was hard to photograph. I asked someone if I could sit on his shoulders but he took it the wrong way.
The good news was that the food was terrific this year. Maybe they were concerned with the recession and starving artists etc. They also had bowls of sugar and people ate like cholesterol was never heard of. That is what I like so much about living in England. People do the right thing, when it comes to food, at the right times.
More to come...must run to do school pick up.
